Spot the Dog Mural I 2017

Can you spot the lost dog? SF-based Whistle, a pet tech company, has partnered with local, Mission-based artist, Sirron Norris, to bring a new mural to Valencia St. The “Spot the Dog” mural may seem like a quirky Where’s Waldo on the surface, but as with any creative work with paint, there is a great story behind how it came to life this summer.

Artist Sirron Norris is known for his extensive contributions to public art in San Francisco and Fox’s Bob’s Burgers. He’s also a long-time Mission resident and dog owner, which is where this work hits home for him. This summer he was approached by Whistle to help create a mural that would raise awareness of the issue of pet loss while also raising much-needed funds for SF-based Family Dog Rescue’s new Bayview district facilities. Having experienced the loss of a pet himself and creating Family Dog’s logo, this project resonated for Sirron.

The mural will live at the intersection of 20th and Valencia beginning July 18 and running through the middle of August. During that time, passersby are invited to snap photos of the mural and share it on Instagram. For every share we'll donate $1 to Family Dog Rescue.
